Mathieu Bertholet


Born in Valais, a graduate of the Berlin Arts University, artistic and stage director Mathieu Bertholet was author in residence at the Comédie de Genève and later at Grütli. He was co-researcher of the Masters in Stage Directing at the Manufacture de Lausanne, co-director of the Playwriting department at ENSATT, in Lyon, a Professor at the University of Louvain in Belgium, and a dancer under Cindy Van Acker and Foofwa D’Imobilité. Mathieu Bertholet intersects practices and has developed a singular, non-closed and very demanding mode of expression. His plays have been published by Actes Sud Papiers and have been staged by Anna Van Brée, Anne Bisang, Maya Bösch, and Marc Liebens. Since 2015, he has been the director of POCHE/GVE, a theatre devoted to contemporary writing. He presented “Derborence” in Vidy, in 2015, and did the French translation of “Nathan/Crassier” by G. E. Lessing/E.Jelinek for the show “Nathan !?” by Nicolas Stemann, in 2016.
