Mário Montenegro


Mário Montenegro was born in 1970, in Porto. He is a stage director, actor, playwright, researcher, and professor. He is a founding member and artistic director of Marionet, where he directed 37 shows and regularly intervenes as both actor and playwright. He has published the plays “Revolução dos Corpos Celestes” (MAFIA, 2006), “Encontro em Possível” (CETUP, 2006), “A Expressão das Emoções” and “LED” (Coimbra University Press, 2018), as well as two translations, “Sr. de Chimpanzé” by Jules Verne (Marionet, 2010) and “Cálculo” by Carl Djerassi (Coimbra University Press, 2011). As a researcher, he is an integrated member of CEIS20 – Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Coimbra and is interested in the intersections between Performing Arts and Science. He is a Guest Professor in the Artistic Studies course at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra in the field of Theatre and Performing Arts Studies.
