Maria Rosa Menzio

Born in Torino, Maria Rosa Menzio graduated with honors in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Torino. Fellow researcher of the C.N.R. she discovered, together with professor W. M. Tulczjew, the Menzio-Tulczjew theorem in the field of simpletic geometry. She specializes in Philosophy of Science, after which she begins to write, poetry at first, having published Ombre (1986) and Sette leghe alle soglie di Atlantide (1992). She begins to write drama with “Soledad” for Torino’s Teatro Juvarra in 1990 and in 1994 with “Fausta” for Teatro Erba of Torino, and a finalist of the Candoni-Arta Terme prize. She has been connected to the project ”Teatro e Scienza” from 2000, having directed her own plays “Mangiare il mondo” (2000), “Padre Saccheri” (​2002), “Fibonacci” (2003), “Il Mulino” (2006), “Cardano” (2007), “Carteggio celeste” (2007), “Senza fine” (2008), “Boccardi” (2009), “Vita a giudizio” (2010), “Omar” (2011), “Fibonacci (la ricerca)” (2013), “L’Oro Bianco di Dresda” (2014) and “Il signor Leblanc” (2015).

She has been honoured with the prizes “Fondi-La Pastora” (1996-2003), “Science on stage” (2005), “Portovenere teatro donna” (2005), “Creative Culture 2010”, “Perlascena”​ (2013) and”Castelnuovo (AT)”.

She is a professor of “Theatre and Science” at Holden School and in the Masters programme in Science Communication of the University og Cagliari. She has been Artistic Director of the Unione Collina Torinese, then of the Fondazione ECM, later of Santena and presently of the “Teatro e Scienza” association.
