“Estás a ouvir-me?” (“Are you listening to me?“) is a sound installation made as part of the project Ouvir Vozes da Marionet – Associação Cultural, in partnership with the Movimento Ouvir Vozes Portugal, Rádio Aurora–a Outra Voz (Hospital Júlio de Matos) and the Center for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra, that combines mental health activism, scientific research and artistic creation on the experience of hearing voices that other people don’t hear.

Initially presented from 25 November to 10 December 2021, at Teatro da Cerca de São Bernardo, “Are you listening to me?” was conceived from “Countless Voices”, a theatrical play built based on testimonies of people listening, having as a starting point a question that, in the midst of the 17209 words of the play’s script, was able to disturb the author of the installation, Silvio Correia Santos. It is her that these sounds portray.
